Revival campaign for lapse lic policies

Like past many occasions, Life Insurance corporation of India (LIC) has come up with a new Revival Campaign with the motive of reducing lapsation of policies and renewing the relation with old policyholders. This special campaign is from 15/06/2016 to 15/09/2016. During this campaign, policyholders can revive their lapsed policies with concession in the late fee and relaxation from some medical requirement.

Policies which are eligible for revival

Individual life insurance policies and Health insurance policies are eligible for revival under this campaign.

Individual Policies and Health Policies which are eligible for revival in this campaign
  1. Lapsed policies under all type of plans are eligible except Microinsurance Plans. ULIP policies under Plan 802,803,804,811 which are discontinued as per policy conditions are eligible for revival.
  2. Policies which are in lapsed condition for more than 6 months from FUP as on date of revival.
  3. Policies issued through all distribution channels except Micro Insurance.
  4. Policies which are in lapsed condition during the premium paying term and not completed policy term as on the date of revivl.
  5. Policies under Plan 805 and 806 can be revived within 1 year from FUP.
  6. The revival of policies with FUP more than 5 years as on the date of revival will be done as per the rules. However, such policies will be eligible for late fee concession.
  7. Policies under all types of Health plans are allowed.
  8. Policies which are in lapsed condition for more than 15 days for Monthly mode/ECS mode and One month for policies with other than the monthly mode, but less than 2 years from FUP as on 15.06.2016 will be eligible.

Concession in late fee

Late fee concession will be offered depending on the status of the policy, as indicated below.

  1. Concession in late fee will be allowed only for policies where policyholder pays all arrears of premium with interest and revival requirements if any, up to the date of revival.
  2. Concession in late fee will be allowed for all types of revival including SB-cum-Revival,¬†Loan‚Äďcum-Revival, and Installment Revival.
  3. Concession in late fee will not be allowed to policies which were revived during the campaigns for the revival of lapsed policy in 2013 and two campaigns in 2014-15 and 2015-2016, where concession in late fee was granted.
  4. Concession in late fee will also be allowed under policies where no evidence of health will be required i.e spot revval.
  5. Late fee concession will also be allowed where the arrears of premium for revival is in policy deposit and adjustment of the same is done during the campaign period after receipt of revival requirements.
  6. Under some plans like plan 87, 91, 128, 165, 174, 179, 184, 185 and 192 wherein the policyholder can pay one or two instalments of premium with interest instead of paying all arrears of premium, concession in late fee will not be allowed for such part payment. Needless to add that if all arrears of premiums with interest are paid during the campaign period, then concession in late fee will be allowed as per rule.
  7. For plan 903 and 904 : Waiver of interest of 20% subject to the maximum of Rs.1500 under LIC’s Jeevan Arogya plan 903 and 904.
  8. Medical Reports are to be submitted as per existing underwriting rules.
  9. No concession in waiting period.

Concession in Health Requirements or Evidence of health

The policy can be revived on submission of satisfactory declaration of good health (DGH) instead of regular health requirements, provided:

  1. Premium under the policy has been paid for at least full 5 years as on date of revival and the Age of the life assured is 45 years or less as on the date of revival (nearer birthday) irrespective of sum assured.
  2. Age nearer birthday between 46-50yrs the total sum to be revved is allowed up to 2 lac.
  3. The Policy has been accepted/ revived at Ordinary rates or with extra other than on health/ build ground.
  4. In Declaration of good health (DGH) submitted by the policyholder, there is no adverse information about health or personal history.

Exclusions for granting concession in health Requirements:

  1. Term assurance plans, high-risk plans will be excluded.
  2. In addition to above plans, any policy issued with term rider or critical illness rider should also be excluded.
  3. For policies which will not satisfy the above criteria mentioned as at ‚Äė3‚Äô usual health¬†requirements based on age and sum to be revived as on date of revival may be called.
  4. Policies which are not eligible for concession in health requirements, concession in late fee will be allowed as per rule.

    • Vivek, your policy is in lapsed condition, you must revive this policy. Up to 31/10/2015 you can revive this policy by paying all due unpaid premiums + interest (with discount of 20% on interest).

    • Yes, your policy is eligible for revival. Please visit servicing branch to revive the policy, you have to pay all unpaid premiums with interest Up to the date from FUP. You will get the concession in late fee also. Refer the article for percentage of rebate.

    • You can revive your policy in any branch if your policy is reviving with Declaration of good health (DGH) or medical only. If these is a requirement of any special medical reports then you have to revive your policy from servicing branch only.

    I have received communication from LIC (surprisingly for first time in 4 years although its my fault that I had forgotten that I had taken these policies)for reviving two of my lapsed policies numbered 903736209 and 903734727. Request for your advice if it is better to surrender the policies and ask for a refund (how much will be refunded?) or pay this huge late fee and continue with the policy.

    • I have checked your first policy and its not paid since 2004, and I think all the policy are same condition. Late fee will be too high. Its up to you if you want to pay this much late fee. Visit nearest branch for all the details.

    • There is no late fee in ULIP policies(Market Plus), you just have to pay all the due premiums only. Also see your surrender value if you are getting amount with growth you can surrender it.

    • You can revive your policy anywhere and in any LIC branch only if revival is done on DGH or Medical only(high risk plan like term and with term rider are not allowed). After revival you can send your application through mail for transfer of your policy to desired branch.

    • If you have paid premium for complete 5 years then you just have to deposit premium directly at counter, if not then go for revival in any branch if revival is on DGH or Medical only.

    • you can revive your policy in this special revival campaign, ask for SB cum revival scheme for your policy. (Your policy have provision of Survival benefit after every four year.)

    • Hello Hari,
      Late fee is very high and you have paid premium for 14 months only, policy can be revive in special revival campaign, and through SB cum revival scheme you have to pay almost half of the revival amount from pocket, it up to you whether you are ready to pay late fee or take another policy.

    • Instead of paying a huge late fee, better use that money to buy a new plan, and I will recommend a term plan for you.

      If your policy is reviving with declaration of good health (DGH) or medical then only you can revive your policy in other branch, else you have to visit your servicing branch. Please mention your sum assured in both the policies and your age so that I can tell you exactly.

    Assitance required in revival of policy no 629690721.

    I have contacted the Branch in Dec 2014 however, it was advised for me to get in touch with the broker.
    I have submitted the documents with the broker who is located in Bangalore and policy was created somewhere in Chennagiri Branch. Also I tried to make full payment multiple times and due to delay the agent was unable to make.

    I personally travelled to Chennagiri and could not find the specific branch location also could not catch hold of the agent

    I have extracted the Statement (premioum details) twice and due to delay from the agent could not make it.

    Please advise what should be the procedue and Branch location wherein I have to make payment for the above policy.

    • Your policy is in lapsed condition from 05/2014, you have to revive it immediately to restart the cover. For that you do not have to visit the servicing branch, just visit any nearest branch and you can revive your policy there also. After revival only send a mail to servicing branch (bo_6111@licindia.com) quoting your policy number to transfer the policy to desired branch, do not forget to attach a copy of ID and Address proof with mail.

      Your parents can revive the policy, LIC has again started its special revival campaign from 01/01/2016 to 29/02/2016, Use the opportunity, ask for SB cum revival scheme, it will reduce the burden. As per age of your parents, their may be some medical or special report required.

    • You can revive your policy during the revival campaign up to 29/02/16. First get the revival quote from any branch. You can revive this policy from servicing branch only.

    • Update your contact number in all of your policies, you will get all the reminders about your premium due dates. You can also register for LIC e-Services where you can see all the details about your policy and can make premium payment through cards or net banking.

    • You have to surrender your policy, please visit your policy servicing branch for it, you have to submit your policy document and fill the surrender form and have to provide the bank details with proof. Surrender value will be credited directly to you bank account.

    • Policy lapsed for more than 5 years have different rules of revival that policy lapsed for less than 5 years. Normally in revival campaign policies with more that 5 years of FUP are also allowed for revival.     • In Jeevan Saral policy there is a auto cover of 1 years after payment of 3 complete year Premium. So if Premium due is of 07/15 or later your policy is in inforce condition, just go any branch and deposit your due Premium.

    • Mr. Gupta,

      It’s highly unlikely that people from LIC branch do not know about this campaign. But, first you take out the revival quotation of your policy at any branch, satellite office or LIC customer zone and you will automatically get the quote with concession in late fee. If unpaid premium are not of more than 5 years and it does not require any special medical report for revival, then you can revive your policy in any branch.

    • Your policy can be revived in this revival campaign, you have to deposit all the premium till date and interest over it. You will get 20% concession in the late fee.

    • Policy cannot be revived online.
      In Jeevan Saral policy there is an auto cover of 1 years after payment of 3 complete years Premium. So if Premium due is of 07/15 or later your policy is in inforce condition, just go any branch and deposit your due Premium.

  71. My husband has a policy, with a premium of nearly 85K per annum. He forgot to pay the amount last december and the policy lapsed. Can we revive it from aborad? We live in USA and will not be visiting soon. He is between 46-50 years of age. Please help.

    • It is not possible to revive the policy from abroad. Please write a mail to any of the LIC Customer Zone quoting your policy number and they will provide you exact details regarding your policy. Click Here to get the email Ids of LIC customer zones.

Can I create another account with same policy no. or any other way to recover the password. Also I know these policies are in lapsed state. Is there any chance of revival. If yes please help.

    • Once registered on LIC portal, a policy cannot be registered again on different ID. Write a mail to your branch quoting one of your policy number which is already registered on LIC portal, they will provide you the user id of LIC portal. You can also send mail to your nearest customer zone for this. Click Here to know the email ID of your nearest LIC customer Zone.

    • You cannot revive your policy when you are abroad. But, check which policy you have and how many years it have completed. In some policies, if they were in inforce condition for 5 continuous years, the premium can be deposited with interest within 1 year of FUP (First unpaid premium) at cash counters without any revival. Or you can write a mail directly to any of the LIC Customer Zones to get exact position and details about your policy.

  74. Hello Pawan Sir, I have the policy number 956685206. I have not paid the premiums since 3-4 years. Would the above policy stand for revival? If yes could you help me with the late fees amount? Also after paying the premium for these years and late fees, would it be still considered from the date of Commencement?

  77. i am state govt employ of telangana state, my policy no. are 683576252, 685745200, 685745912, 697390707 these policies are pending from July-2013 to Sep-2014, due to absence of mine to my job. after that i was joined in duty and my premium amount is deducted from my salary and credited to above policies is it possible to adjust the amount with out revival of policies.
    one more thing i would like to tell you i approached branch to clear the 15 months gap period with revival form and medical procedures but that revival form is sent to zonal office hyderabad, still the decision is pending.
    now my doubt is that with out decision of zonal office, how the branch is adjusted my latest premiums(i.e. from Oct-2014 till now it is going on)? which are followed by above 15 Months (from July-2013 to Sep-2014) gap, but still the gap period is pending for decision.
    is it possible to branch settle the premium with out decision of zonal office? by leaving 15 gaps as it is.

    • You can revive the policy during this revival campaign. Visit your branch and get the revival quotation of your policy. If there is no special medical reports required then just submit revival from 680 along with any of your ID proof with revival quotation. Since your policy has lapsed for more than five years as on date, your policy may be sent to the higher office for revival decision and may take time from 10 to 20 days.

The instalment premium was due for payment in the month of December 2015 but I unable to pay the same due to some domestic problem. Please confirm we can revive this policy after paying late fee in any branch in Mumbai or we need to personally visit to the home branch in Gujarat.   89. Hello, My Policy is lapsed and i would like to revive it by paying the late fee. My agent said that the campaign is over and they will extend it again. Now shall i pay or will wait for the campaign extend to get the benefit ? Please suggest me if do you have any info. about the campaign extend ?

    • LIC may come with a new revival campaign and you can wait. But, you must understand that till then there will not be any risk cover on your life. So revive your policy immediately and don’t wait for any campaign to revive your policy.

    I have one Jeevan Saral Policy started back in Aug-2010 and paidd 28 premiums till Nov-2012, after that No premium is paid till now-i.e. total due premiums-47
    I want to revive this policy, Issue is policy was issued in Ahmedabad and now i am in Bangalore with other Policies being Logged in Delhi
    So how i can revive the policy ??

    • If there are no special medical reports required to revive your policy like ECG etc. then you can revive your policy anywhere, in any LIC branch or Satellite office.

    • You can revive the policy from any branch nearest to you. To change the address in your policy please submit an application in your servicing branch. Alternatively, you can send a mail with the copy of relevant address proof to any nearest LIC customer zone. Find the email ID/Address of your nearest customer zone here.
